Weekly essential oil highlight…Ylang Ylang

Flamboyant and expressive. Vibrant, provocative sensual and showy. Ylang Ylang is a euphoric oil and one most associated with being an aphrodisiac.

Botanically known as Cananga odorata var. genuina. It is uplifting as well as calming bringing relief to anxiety, depression, panic attacks, stress and tension. For those who have sexual difficulties in their relationships this is the first oil that I would recommend. Several have informed me that it has certainly helped their lack of libido because Ylang Ylang has the ability to reduce stress and improve confidence often associated with sexual inadequacy. Try adding a blend of Ylang Ylang, Lavender and Sweet orange or instead of the orange, Rose is gorgeous too. Add to a diffuser in the bedroom, an oil to your bath or a massage oil for the body.

A major skin oil. It balances the secretion of sebum helping with acne and problem skin and it is a superb hot oil treatment for the hair. I’ve used it as an extra treatment as part of the Aromatic Acupressure Facial. At the end of the facial I apply hot oil to the hair and scalp. My client will then go home leaving the treatment on for as long as they wish and their hair will feel beautifully soft and shiny. It is known to help with split ends. As a home treatment it can be added to a shampoo base. It smells incredible. A good blending base oil to use is Jojoba oil which is superb for the hair. For thinning hair a blend of Ylang Ylang and Rosemary is wonderful as a hot oil treatment. Do contact me if you want to learn more with regards to percentages of how much essential oil to add to the base oil.

Ylang Ylang is a fantastic calming oil. Heart palpitations brought on by stress and panic attacks are calmed by the oils cooling ability. It clears heat from the heart. Suffer with mood swings from PMS?  This is your oil. Blends very nicely as a massage oil or in a diffuser with Clary Sage and Neroli to calm that time before menstruation.

A truly wonderful oil containing a wealth of properties. The only negative side it has, is that the odour to some can be quite powerful. You don’t need to use that much. If you are someone who suffers with headaches them please do use it with caution as it has been known to trigger an attack.

As always if you have any questions relating to this oil or any other safety questions then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Have a wonderful day everyone…….
