Weekly essential oil highlight…Ginger

Woody, earthy, pungent, warming, heating and grounding. All the words that you want to hear as the cooler days set in.

Zingiber Officinale otherwise known as ginger. An exceptional oil for cold, weak and stuck conditions which become worse in cold damp weather. A favourite oil of mine as the cold weather sets in working on the musculoskeletal system improving circulation and just fantastic for muscular aches and pains, stiffness and a great help for those who suffer with arthritis. I have seen incredible results following a nasty wrist break. When used in a stronger dilution (what us aromatherapists call a local application which is a higher percentage of essential oils to the carrier oil) the results were really positive bringing more movement and the warming effects made the area more comfortable.

A tonic for someone suffering from a lack of vitality and interest. A coldness when it comes to a lack of empathy. Ginger works its wonders.

Ginger is so often recommended for morning sickness in pregnancy. There is evidence that it helps as well with digestive issues ranging from colic, flatulence, nausea, constipation and diarrhoea.

This little gem is also an expectorant working on the respiratory system helping with coughs and colds and bronchitis.

Try ginger and rosemary for poor circulation. For a lack of vitality try ginger, black pepper and ylang ylang ……. just gorgeous.

No safety cautions with this one but as always contact a professional aromatherapist for dilution and usage advice.
